Government Appoints Secretary of JKBOSE as Interim Chairman and Director
In a recent administrative decision, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has temporarily filled the leadership positions at the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
Under Notification S.O 08 issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on January 12, 2026, the government has assigned additional responsibilities to two senior officials until permanent appointments are made.
Interim Leadership Appointments
1. Interim Chairman — JKBOSE
Mr. Ghulam Hassan Sheikh (JKAS), who is currently serving as the Secretary of JKBOSE, will also take on the role of Interim Chairman of JKBOSE. He will perform all duties of the Chairman in addition to his ongoing responsibilities at the Board. This move is expected to help expedite pending tasks, most notably the long-awaited declaration of Class 10th and 12th results.
2. Interim Director — SCERT J&K
The government has also directed the Director of School Education, Jammu to hold the additional charge of Director of SCERT J&K until further notice.
Background
The positions of Chairman of JKBOSE and Director of SCERT had been vacant following the retirement of the previous incumbent on December 31, 2025. The absence of permanent leadership drew concern from students, parents, and stakeholders, especially because it contributed to delays in critical functions such as result announcements.

The interim arrangement aims to ensure continuity in administration and timely completion of essential Board processes.
